My name is Jason Tobin, founder of the Rock group The Dog Gods. The idea for a band was born on a hot july night in New Orleans in 1977. The compositions on this CD were written long ago. The material was first recorded on a Radio Shack radio/cassette recorder and recorded on to two cassette tapes using only an acoustic guitar and some humming to take the place of real vocals. At that point, the tapes were put away in an attic for all eternity. In the year 2001 (by chance) I walked into a museum in Black Mountain, N.C. and happened upon a photograph of a boy (cover) taken in 1920. I was struck by the image and wondered who he was, what he was looking at and what had become of him. I later found out that the story had a tragic end. I kept thinking what a great CD cover it would make, but who was going to make the CD? After fifteen years of not even owning a guitar, I started my journey to record a CD of the songs I had written so long ago. This CD is part one of a two part CD series completing all the material written back then. The tracks on ANCIENT AFTERNOONS were written in the earliest time of my writing and the tracks on the second CD, STORM OF GOODBYE'S written at the end. It's all pretty much in choronological order, the time span from 1978 to 1988. STORM OF GOODBYE'S (at present) scheduled to go into recording in the spring of 2007 Jason Tobin guitarist/vocalist The Dog Gods.
